6-29 A Ransacked Chapel


 

This chamber was once some sort of chapel. There are still the sigils of ancient holy symbols inscribed upon the walls, although the altar and any other furnishings have long been removed.

  • Any healing spells cast within this room automatically do the maximum healing their dice would be able to roll. Furthermore, any clerical spell cast within this room has a 50% chance to not be expended when cast, allowing it to be cast again.

6-28 The Chamber of Peace


 

This weirdly peaceful room has a set of paintings along the walls, depicting winged elves in solemn white robes, seemingly deep in meditation.

  • Even if an encounter occurs within this room, a hostile result will be treated as neutral. Any being who wishes to inflict harm upon another, either through spells, physical attacks, or otherwise, must make a successful save vs. spells to do so. Furthermore, any character who departs this room is affected as if a protection from evil spell was cast upon them, with a duration of six turns.

6-27 Storm-Etched Walls


 

This room has a set of stone benches set to line the walls. The walls are painted to resemble roiling storm clouds, complete with the glow of lightning here and there.

  • Anyone coming within five foot of the north or south walls of the main portion of this room are subject to an electrical discharge. This will inflict 4d6 damage, or half on a successful save vs. spells. This may impact any number of characters approaching within five feet of these walls, and may occur every round.

This room appears to have been carved more crudely than the surrounding ones, as if done at a later time, with rougher tools. The walls are seemingly blank, and the floor is uneven. Perhaps it was simply left unfinished.

6-25 A Noble Bedroom


 

This grand bedroom is dominated by a massive four post bed, and has wardrobes set upon the walls. An archway leads into a long walk in closet in the western wall. Despite its age, it is still very usable.

6-24 A Receiving Room


 

This quiet room has murals depicting the interior of some sort of waiting room, visible through painted archways along the walls. Rows of chairs contain elves sitting patiently, while a distant counter is visible with several bureaucrats tending to business, painted on the west wall. The walls are lined with simple stone benches.

6-23 Chamber of Discarded Gear


 

The southern portion of this room is stacked high with discarded equipment. Broken swords and armor, torn clothing and ripped backpacks. It is a veritable trash heap of ruined cast offs.

  • The treasure listed is hidden among the pile of trash. None of the rest is immediately useful, although someone with a mending magic might be able to fix up some standard adventuring gear.
  • This room may be used to reunite the party with gear or items lost or misplaced in prior expeditions.

6-22 Temple of the Storm Lord


 

This temple like room has a series of pillars along each side. The focus of the room appears to be a statue of a massive elf wearing stylized armor, and carrying a spear. The spear visibly shines and sparks with live electricity.

  • Anyone who approaches within 10’ of the statue must make a reaction roll. Elves gain a 1 point bonus to this roll, dwarves take a 1 point penalty. On a friendly reaction, the character begins to shine and spark, as if surrounded by a nimbus of electricity. The next melee attack they land will deal an additional 4d6 electrical damage. This charge does not expire until a melee attack is made. On a hostile reaction, the character is smote with a bolt of lightning, that does 8d6 damage, half on a successful save vs. spells.

6-21 Hall of the Grand Congregation


 

This large chamber was once a great meeting hall. There are still marks on the floor where pews were lined up, and the walls are decorated with tall murals depicting thunderclouds, all about the room. Every noise seems to echo ominously through the room.

6-20 Curious Side Room


 

This oddly quiet side room has a single large painting on the wall facing the door, depicting a dead ogre which has had its chest split open and filled with a dead orc, which has had its chest split open, and been filled with a dead goblin. An Ogorblin, if you would.

6-19 Southern Junction


 

This is a broad junction room, with the walls lined with benches. Mosaics seem to depict a scene of fires and infernos surrounding the chamber, done in exquisite detail, complete with faintly glowing embers.

  • The centermost point of this room contains a pit trap, 10’ by 10’, and some twenty feet deep. The bottom is lined with sharp spikes. Anytime anyone crosses it, there is a 2 in 6 chance the pit will open beneath their feet. It is designed to reset the stones above the round after it triggers, letting them swing back shut.

6-18 Lair of the Withered Lady


 

This appears to have been an ornate sitting room at some point. Although the couches and tables are deteriorated, their former grandeur is still evident. The walls are covered with dusty tapestries.

  • b) This room appears to have once been a grand bedroom, with a great four post bed covered with dust and cobwebs. A skeleton dressed in a fine gown rests upon the bed.
  • c) This is a dusty library, with bookshelves lining the walls.
  • The library contains the Withered Lady’s spellbooks. Her mortal remains are still upon the bed in the bedroom.

Monsters: The Withered Lady (Spectre, maximum hp, casts spells as a 5th level elf.), 4 wraiths.

Treasure: 7000 sp, scroll of protection from undead, potion of gaseous form, potion of clairaudience, ring of protection +1

6-17 Statue of an Elven Queen


 

Behind a black and red curtain, this large chamber is covered with murals that seem to depict a grand throne room. In the center of the room stands a statue of a stately elven queen, clad in finery and bearing a large stone sceptre. The stone base the statue stands upon has a brass plaque that appears blank.

  • The plaque is electrified. Those who touch it bare handed are stricken with an electrical discharge, which does 8d6 damage, although a save vs. spells may be made for half damage. This charge takes 1d4 rounds to recover after being triggered.
  • The plaque may be pried up, and behind it, the treasure of this room is hidden in the base of the statue.

6-16 Three Pool Room


 

This room is dominated by three long pools, each below a fountain springing from one of the walls. The pools are set in low stone basins flush to the floor, while the fountains each trickle water from a pitcher held by a carving of a winged woman.

  • An individual character may drink from each of the pools just once during any 24 hour period. The pool in the East wall will grant a +1 to attack rolls for 24 hours. The pool in the western wall will grant a bonus of 1 to AC for 24 hours, while the pool in the southern wall will grant a +1 to saving throws for 24 hours.

6-15 Owlbear Lair


 

What was once a barracks has now become some sort of monster lair. The old furniture has been busted up and tossed around, chewed on and put into piles. There’s the distinct smell of feces, and scattered around on the floor are several odd tangles of shreds of clothing, bone, and hair.

6-14 The Elevator


 

  • On the wall beside the door into this room is a button. If the elevator is on this floor, the door will be open. If it is not, then if the button is pushed, a glyph on the wall above it will glow softly, and after one round per floor it has to travel, the elevator will arrive, and the door will open.
  • Inside of the elevator, the numbers 6 to 9 are carved onto the wall. Touching one of the numbers will cause it to glow, and a horrible shudder will run through the room, as it noisily begins to move to the appropriate floor. The elevator may travel to levels 6, 7, 8, and 9.

This chamber is strangely even. A near perfect cube, except for where the door enters, it is vacant, with utterly smooth walls, ceiling, and floor, all in a drab gray color.

6-12 Breezy Curtains


 

The walls of this chamber are concealed by a set of black and red curtains similar to so many such arrangements in this complex. These curtains, however, sway and move as if stirred by some unfelt breeze.

  • Moving within five feet of any of the curtains will cause them to attempt to wrap around the offending character. This is considered an attack as if from a 5 HD monster. Any character who is so wrapped up will begin to suffocate. The curtains may be cut to free the wrapped character with a round of effort and a suitable edged weapon, or forcibly unwrapped with an open doors check.
  • A small alcove on the west wall contains this room’s treasure.

6-11 A Curtained Lounge


 

The middle of this chamber is separated out from the rest of the room by heavy red curtains. Unlike the curtains in much of the rest of this complex, these are simply crimson, with no designs upon them. In the center of the curtained area are a set of couches and low tables, upon which are bottles of wine and water, and platters of fresh food. A soft music constantly seems to play about the room.

  • This food and drink is magically restored every day at what would be dawn outside.
  • Resting here precludes the need for any encounter checks, so long as the curtains are closed.
  • After resting here for a full rest, wounded characters may restore double the usual hit points from a rest. However, all characters who rest here must save vs. spells or insist on resting here another day. This is a charm effect, and may be resisted as such. This save should be repeated any time a character rests here.

6-10 The Observatory


 

This domed chamber has a ceiling that is painted an inky black. Set within the ceiling are little colored stones, mostly silvery, that reflect any light in such a way as to resemble twinkling stars.

  • Although they appear they may be valuable, the stones in the ceiling are worthless once pried out of place.
  • The stars in the ceiling resemble the stars of the night sky, as they may have appeared thousands of years past.

This intersection provides a bit of a buffer between the rooms around it. A stone bench rests diagonally in each corner, facing the center of the room.

This angular chamber has a ceiling that rises to a pyramidal point far above. The walls have been scoured smooth, whatever might have decorated these stone walls is long gone. A curved stairway descends in the middle of the room, toward the floor below.

This spacious chamber looks like it was once a small barracks. There’s the remnants of some bunk beds, no longer viable as furniture, as well as a toppled table.

  • The northern room contains a fair amount of rusted weaponry, mostly corroded chain and swords.
  • The treasure is concealed in the remnants of the beds, and will require at least a cursory search to discover.

This sturdy looking stone chamber has rows of wooden shelves upon the walls. A few ancient, dusty crates and barrels are stacked in the corners, and resting on some of the shelves.

  • The shelves on the eastern wall are deteriorated to the point where they will collapse if disturbed. If the crates and boxes upon the shelves are moved, they will do so. Anyone adjacent to that wall will need to make a saving throw vs. breath weapon or take 2d6 damage from falling debris, crates, and sundry.

6-4 The Stretched Oval


 

A curiously rounded room, even the ceiling of this room is domed. At the north and south ends, upon the east and west walls facing one another, are set large copper rings, some four foot across and embedded into the stone. What purpose they serve is unclear.

A finished corridor opens up into a suddenly very natural looking cavern. The uneven floor slopes downward toward the far end, and two thirds of the room is covered with water, which seems to get deeper the further it goes. A hole in the ceiling connects to the well on floors far above.
