10-31 Room of Bones

 


The floor of this room is littered with bones of various types. The walls are scored with the furrows of sharp claws, while the floor has been cracked, and is uneven.

This oblong room has a high, arched ceiling. There looks to have once been the makings of some sort of starry sky painting upon it, although it doesn’t appear to have been ever finished.

10-29 T-Rex Showroom


 

Four columns stand in the corners of this room, from which are strung colorful ropes, some fifteen feet up near the ceiling. A set of mirrored lights shine on the room’s center occupant.

  • This is the latest and greatest model T-Rex, coming soon to a dealer near you. It is aggressive.

The middle of this room has a firepit set up out of bits of rubble, along with the ashes of a camp fire. A few abandoned bedrolls lie here, with no sign of their prior owners.

10-27 Defaced Sitting Room

 


This room has been defaced from what it once was. The walls are painted with images of some sort of sitting room, with scraps here and there still depicting elven noblemen and women. However, much of the murals have been removed, the stone beneath gouged.

The center of this room contains a pool of water, bounded on each side by a low one foot tall stone wall. The depth of the pool is not immediately evident, but appears quite deep.

  • The pool itself is easily some ten foot deep, enough to house the massive fish within it.

10-20 Chamber of the Dragon Statue

 


In this long chamber, a grand statue of a dragon sits in the north end, staring down toward the south end.

  • When the room is entered from the west, nothing occurs, but when the room is entered from the south end, all who see the statue must make a saving throw vs. spells or be feared for 2d6 rounds. At the same time, the dragon statue will emit a roar, requiring an immediate random encounter check.

This chamber has wooden shelves arrayed along all the walls, while the ceiling has a number of rusty iron hooks anchored into it. Other than that, it appears empty.

  • One of the shelves along the south wall has a wooden backing, and behind it is a secret door.

This broad chamber may once have been a temple, but has been converted to a tomb. Unlit candles line all of the walls, and an ornate stone coffin rests in a niche on the north wall.

10-15 The Illusory Aquarium

 


This round-walled chamber appears as if it is built underwater, with the walls enchanted to resemble an undersea scene, complete with fish and other undersea wildlife.

  • In fact, an entire illusion is set within the room, making it appear as though the room is filled with water as well, and that fish freely swim through the chamber. If a character fails to save vs. spells, they may believe they are in fact under water.

The pit within the center of this room descends to floors below. There’s a very small lip around it, maybe a six inch tall set of stone masonry. It appears as though this is used as a garbage disposal.

10-13 Forlorn Prison

 


This chamber may have been a prison or holding room of some sort. The main chamber is simple stone, with the splintered remnants of a table laying scattered through the room. The three cells in the back don’t outwardly appear to have any doors, just empty arches leading into them.

  • Once a character enters any of the cells, there’d be a rattling sound as a portcullis falls into place. A character may make a saving throw vs. breath weapon to dive out of the cell, otherwise they will be trapped in the cell until the portcullis is lifted (with a combined total of 24 strength required to lift one.
  • The treasure within this room is in the northernmost cell.

10-12 A Fickle Maiden


 

A set of curtains separates this chamber from the main corridor, almost like a large alcove. It’s dominated by a statue of a beautiful elven woman in a fine gown. She has a disapproving look on her stone features.

  • The first time a group of more than two characters enters this room, after two rounds, the character with the highest charisma and the lowest charisma both have to save vs. spells. If the character with the highest charisma fails, they gain a permanent point of charisma, to a maximum of 18. If the character with the lowest charisma fails, they lose a permanent point of charisma, to a minimum of 3. Other characters are unafffected, although no characters who are in the room when this happens may ever be affected by this statue again.

10-11 Unfinished Mural

 


This large chamber looks unfinished. The walls are smoothed enough, but only the west wall has been decorated. A mural has been started, depicting an outdoors scene viewed through windows, much like some of the rooms higher up within this place. However, halfway from the south end to the north end of that wall, the painting has stopped. The rest of the wall just has a base of white paint. The other walls of the room are wholly unpainted.

Plain stone walls here show little decoration, while the floor is a mix of black and white stone tiles in a checkerboard pattern. A set of stone steps leads downward.

10-9 Strange Attraction


 

This room’s primary oddity is the fact that the north wall appears to be made entirely of iron. Piled against its base are a mix of rusted weapons and armor, along with scattered fragments of bone.

  • Three rounds after the main door to this room is activated, the north wall begins to become highly magnetic. Any characters with ferrous or magnetically attracted metal will find it drawn to that wall. Weapons and armor are especially affected. Characters will have to make an open doors check each round or be unable to move away from the wall and in fact be drawn 10’ toward it. Metal weapons may be released to avoid being drawn along with them, although armor will have to be removed. Once characters are in contact with the wall, an open doors check must be made each round to even count toward removing armor that round. Once triggered, this magnetic field keeps up so long as any living being is within the room.
  • Most of the weapons and armor initially within the room are ruined. The existing treasure is scattereed among the remains near the wall, and will take 3 rounds to find and gather.

This might once have been a grand temple. While furnishings and decorations have largely been removed, there are still frames and fixtures on the wall where once grand glass portraits were hung in lieu of windows.

10-7 Hallway of Columns


 

Eight stone columns dominate this chamber, spaced evenly to divide it up into spaces. A faint hum seems to be present within this room at the edge of hearing.

  • Each of the columns produces a faint musical tone when passed near, with each column producing a different note. While nothing innately happens as a result of this, this may be the target of some quest.

10-6 Malcient’s Rest

 


In this oddly shaped, dark corner chamber, the walls are carved with shelves, upon which molder away ancient books and scrolls. Three niches in the south wall appear to bear coffins.

  • These coffins bear the mortal remains of Malcient and his two assistants

This chamber is strangely damp, with moisture beading on stone walls, and the floor covered in an inch or so of water. While there was no indication of this from the outside, the side of the door facing into this room is swollen and warped.

10-3 A Dusty End


 

This room appears to have been long abandoned. A fine layer of dust covers everything within. The walls are undecorated, although four low stone slabs rest upon the floor.

  • When first entered, the mummies within this room are resting on their slabs. They will remain so until disturbed, either by a character’s approach or a search. At that point, all four will awaken. Their despair aura does not kick in until that point.

10-2 Serpent’s Columns


 

This chamber has four columns carved to resemble serpents coiled about stone pillars spaced evenly along one side of the room. Behind them, the east wall is carved with an ornate relief, depicting a storage chamber, replete with crates and chests and barrels, all done in fine stonework.

  • The carved east wall might attract characters to search for secrets. If they do, this will put them between the serpent pillars and the wall. Any character who remains there for more than one round will find the carved serpents spitting sprays of contact poison at them from behind. This requires a save vs. poison to avoid instant death.

Stairs descend from the floor above into a broad, rounded room with sturdy wooden doors set on three walls. The flat of the north walls to either side of the descending stone stairs are painted to resemble some sort of library, with flat shelves of painted books.
