4-29 Hidden Tomb


 Like a few of the other tombs on this level, this chamber's walls are filled with burial niches containing a scattering of bones. However, four appear to contain withered but still whole corpses.

  • These bodies are in fact wights, and will rise and attack when disturbed or after the party has been in the room for one full turn, whichever comes first.

4-28 The Empty Basin

 


This long forgotten room has the east and west walls lined with black and red curtains, similar to other rooms within this complex. A shallow stone lip circles an empty stone basin in the center of the room.

  • This was once an enchanted pool, although both the contents and the magic have long been drained away.

4-27 A Dusty Tome

 


Most of this room appears empty, the walls unfinished, and the floors rough. There is a large, dusty book resting on the floor near to the north east corner.

  • This room contains the lost spellbook of a long dead fifth level mage. It should be stocked with spells that might be found useful. 4 x 1st level, 3 x 2nd level, and 1 or 2 3rd level spells may be appropriate.
  • Trapping the spellbook may be appropriate depending on the party.

4-26 Cluttered Storage

 


This storage room is stacked high with barrels, crates, and sacks. It is rather dusty, and a scent of mold  permeates the room.

  • The crates and barrels and sacks have nothing of value within them, any supplies they may have contained are now rotted and spoiled.
  • A hidden stone among the masonry of the east wall opens a sliding panel that reveals the passage beyond.

This chamber has been converted into a crude but cozy sleeping chamber. A massive pile of hay in one corner is covered by layers of hides, while a stack of sacks lies in another corner.

4-24 Mystic Pool

 


The west wall of this room has a long, curved pool lining the wall, under what appears to be a mermaid carved into the wall in bas-relief. The waters within the pool are clear, letting one see down to the stone basin's bottom. The water itself constantly moves and shifts.

  • Once each week, this pool may restore the health of anyone placed within it. One person immersed entirely within the pool is cured of any diseases, has any curses removed, and is restored to full hit points. This even works on persons who have been dead for no longer than 2 days, though it otherwise works like a raise dead spell in this instance. Once used, this pool may not be used again for one week. At any visit, there is a 25% chance it was used 1d6 days prior.

4-23 An Eerie Stillness


 Stone benches line the walls of this chamber, while the walls are painted to resemble the interior of an empty tavern. The temperature here seems perfectly comfortable.

  • This room bears a sanctuary enchantment. While within the room, no encounters my occur, giving a safe place to rest. Notably, even if chased into the room, each group of creatures finds it impossible to see or interact with any other group of creatures who enter the room, effectively rendering each discrete group of creatures alone within it.

This room has plaster along the walls where once were painted murals. Scraps of paint still remain here and there, though what was once depicted is indecipherable.

 A low stone lip surrounds a shallow pool of warm, steaming water within this room. The water, while soothing, is not particularly clean, as the nearby trolls use it to bathe in, among other things.

4-19 Lair of the Ravenous

 


The central room of this complex (19a) is lined with columns reaching up to the ceiling far above. Each of the four side rooms are filled with stacks of raw hides and bones. The stench of rotting meat and refuse is strong here.

  • This is where the four trolls that make up the main group of the Ravenous lair. Each one has claimed a side room. At any time, there is a 1 in 4 chance that any one of the Ravenous is out and about and not at home.

4-18 A Grisly Storeroom

 


This chamber has numerous chunks of fresh meat of indeterminate origin lined up in three rows on the floor in the middle of an otherwise unadorned room.

  • Every 1d4 days, these chunks of meat are replaced unless the room is actively being observed. There is no indication of who is doing it. The meat ranges from animal to monstrous to humanoid, at random.

4-16 Tomb of Sir Altharune


 This elegant sepulcher has four stone sarcophagi within it, one along each wall. The northern sarcophagus is raised upon a stone dais. The walls were once decorated with holy symbols, although these have largely been defaced.

  • This is where the restless spirits of Sir Altharune and his knights linger, when not wandering the floor. They may not immediately activate unless their resting places are disturbed, at which point they will rise up through the very stone. If addressed courteously by a Lawful individual, Sir Altharune may be treated with, although his miserable existence is wearing upon his sanity.

4-15 Twin Tombs


 These two tombs are dusty and contain burial niches in the walls. The short passage that connects them is littered with human and elven bones.

  • While none of these skeletons will animate, a burial niche in the north part of 15a has a short sword +1 within it.

4-14 The Two Chambers


 These two chambers are oddly positioned and oddly joined. The walls in the southern chamber (b) are painted with murals that depict a garden in spring, while hte walls in the northern chamber (c) are painted to depict a garden in the winter.

  • Skeletons lay scattered on the ground, disassembled in both chambers. They will reassemble and animate once the party as entered the room other than the one they initially entered in (skeletons in 14a will reassemble and attack if they go into 14b, and vice versa. This may cause both room's skeletons to animate if characters trigger one room, then return to fight the now animated skeletons.

Monsters: 12 skeletons, 6 in 14a and 6 in 14b.

4-13 The Blackfang Training Hall

 


This room has a number of straw and wooden dummies and targets scattered throughout the room. Racks contain basic weaponry along the east wall.

  • Ordinarily this room is quiet, although if Garrius isn't in his living quarters, there is a 1 in 4 chance he may be found here on any given expedition.
  • A reasonable number of ordinary spears, swords, and axes may be found on the weapon racks here.

4-12 Second Maiden's Crossroads


 

This juncture room is dominated by an old stone statue of a human maiden, clad in simple robes. Her expression is kind, and the statue is oriented facing west, where a mural depicts a hall leading to a doorway. Another mural depicting a hall leading to a doorway is on the north wall.

  • If a character attempts to walk west, they will walk into the mural itself. The door there will lead to 1-8, where they may step out of the mural and into that Maiden's Crossroad. Once a character has passed from 4-12 to 1-8, they may come back via the same method.

Rows of benches and raised desks stretch up in tiers within this ampitheater-like room. They face a sturdy wooden desk in the southern section of the chamber. The south wall is dominated by a large slate chalkboard.

  • The first time this room is entered during any expedition, make a random encounter check.
  • This chamber would make an excellent target for quests.
  • The chalkboard may contain useful or misleading messages, idle crawling, or whatever else is necessary or interesting at the moment.

4-9 A Chamber of Curtains

 


This relatively large chamber has a soaring, vaulted ceiling. Thick black and red curtains with crimson embroidery descend from far above, obscuring the center of the room between four columns.

  • The curtains here are heavy enough to block most sound coming from within the middle of the room.

Monsters: 2 ogres rest within the center of the room. They are unable to hear movement beyond the curtains, and their own breathing and occasional murmuring is likely muted by the same curtains.

Treasure: two sacks of gold (300 gp and 200 gp)

4-8 Draconian Statues


This long hall has murals on the north and south walls depicting a cavern, strewn with a sea of coins scattered on a rough stone floor. Four statues resembling dragons, each slightly larger than man sized, face each other in pairs at either end of the room.

  • Any non elf who passes between the pairs of statues at the east and west end of the room has a 1 in 6 chance of being targeted by a jet of flame from the statues' jaws. This deals 2d6 fire damage, with a save vs. breath weapon allowing half damage.

4-7 The Study

 


This dusty room was, and still is, outfitted as a study. A desk with a chair lies in one corner, while the southern wall houses a collection of books. The entire room is relatively dusty.

  • The bookshelves on the southern wall house a collection of history books in elvish, mostly detailing ancient elven civilizations.

Treasure: 400 sp are stored in the desk, as well as a fair amount of writing material: paper, inks, quills, etc.

 The corridors leading into this room from the west bear neither door nor archway, but two archways to the east each lead into a smaller room. These perhaps were once used as closets or storage rooms.

4-4 Blackfang's Chambers


 

A richly appointed bedrooom contains a few dressers on the north wall. A lavish bed and a sturdy chest are here, as well as a table with three chairs against the south wall.

  • These are the quarters of Garrius Blackfang. There is a 1 in 4 chance he is here at any moment. His pet dire wolf is always here.

Monsters: dire wolf, 1 in 4 chance that Garrius Blackfang is present (werewolf with 5 HD).

Treasure: 8000 cp, 4000 sp, 3000 ep, potion of gaseous form, ring of control animals.

4-3 Blackfang Pack


 

This room is clearly used as a living space. A set of three bunks line the north wall, while a broad wooden table with benches rests on the south end of the room. Two sturdy cabinets line the eastern wall.

  • This serves as the resting place and living quarters of most of the Blackfang Pack.

Treasure: 300 gp, potion of control plant, 8 arrows +1 in a quiver in one of the cabinets.

4-2 Wolven Guards


 

This large chamber was once decorated with murals depicting an elven garden. While some of the murals still remain, enough to tell what was once shown, much of the art is damaged. Swaths of bare plaster and stone are revealed beneath.

  • This chamber is used as a watchpost for Blackfang's men. A few loewr ranked members guard here with wolves, and will challenge intruders.

Monsters: 2 bandits (short bow, 20 arrow,s short sword, shield), 2 wolves

Treasure: Personal (gear + 3d4 gp each bandit)
